Maybe it means something in pirate talk

In a real pirate mood lately. Wish I had my own copy of Treasure Island...

Howabout a recipe? Today I'll teach you... pasno tacos! A pasno taco is what I imagine Eddie Bloomburg meant when he said, "It's like they took everything that's good in life, and wrapped it in a tortilla."
It consists of four things.

Flour tortilla
Taco meat
Crushed up nacho flavor Doritos
Sweet sauce

Sweet sauce is a homemade salad dressing type dip. The recipe is as follows!

1/2 C. Mayonnaise
1 C. Sour cream
2 T. White vinegar
1/4 C. Sugar

It looks like this

Not the best picture. Oh well.

So you put it all on your taco and it looks like this.

And it tastes like HAPPINESS.

So why do I call 'em 'pasno,' you ask? That's no kind of proper word in any language I know of! Well...

Here on the Dorito bag is a word assumed to be 'nacho.' However, due to the odd font choice and me having taken a year of Russian, it looks more like, 'пасно,' which would be pronounced 'pasno' and doesn't mean anything. So I declare it to mean the best tacos.

Dad asks again about his flowers. The tulips are looking nice.

He says he planted daffodils, but I can't find 'em anywhere. I did find...

Trilliums. He didn't plant those.

And some droopy yellow thing. I don't think he planted that either.

Here's Coffee Graves. Purchased this weekend at a Memorial Day garage sale, and named after the fact that my grandmother had coffee with Peter Graves when they were both attending the University of Minnesota. He is my very first koala bear!

New features are coming to this blog soon!

Observe the rural nerd

Being a nerd is more difficult in the country than it is in the city. The accepted things to be interested in around here are: sports, gardening, trucks, quilting, and more sports. Anything else gets you not only questioning looks, but also questioning questions. Additionally, we're quite aways away from a lot of sources of nerdism. Lemme break it down for ya...

Nearest comic book store = 60 miles
Nearest place where they have comic conventions = 125 miles
Nearest group of nerds we could hang with = ???

However, we did get our cosplays on and head down to the Cities for Wizard World Con Minneapolis!

Here's my cosplay: Supergirl!

At the con itself were many great cosplayers! Here's some of them.

And of course, the biggest reason we went there.

Meeting Kevin Conroy. He's BATMAN, you guys. This is a big deal.

So it was great! And with this concentrated dose of nerdage, we ought to be able to last for a good while out here.

More flowers

As of today, we have been living here for one whole year. To celebrate, here's some spring flowers. (Haha spring flowers would've been back in February in Houston.)

Well I know what SOME of these are...

Don't know who it is or how it is or when or why it is

Dad asked me to send him some pictures of how his garden is progressing. I thought I'd post them here so you can see too.

As you can see, there's a yellow thing budding, and a purplish thing budding, which I think turns into this thing.

A thing with a bunch of things. Yeah, I have no idea what any of it is.

Happy Mothers' Day

Rosalina, from the Mario series. Rather than have her with the Lumas, or with her own mother, I thought I'd try to really evoke in the viewer the instinctive reaction of a child to reach up for his mother's arms. I was trying to evoke the same thing the other way (instinctive motherly reaction to pick up a child) with Jason's pose in this picture.

So do these images go together? ..... ;_; Yeah, maybe so.

Probably my once-and-only attempt at iconography

Third Mothers' Day picture! Only one more to go!
The Sufferer and the Dolorosa from Homestuck, who are meant to parallel Christ and Mary, respectively.

Sadly I must inform you that I have no bear appropriate to this holiday. I will someday though!

Should've included Dave too...

Rose and Roxy Lalonde, from Homestuck. This story involves a whole lot of time travel, alternate versions of characters, and all sorts of confusing stuff. Which is how Roxy is actually Rose's mother.

Halfway there!

Four for Mothers' Day

Doing it again! Here we have the first one.

Irwin Schwab aka Ambush Bug, and his mother, a solid-state television.
I love Ambush Bug, and it just kills me that the Houston comic con is having Henry Winkler as a guest this year, only now after I've moved away!! ):

I need to get cracking on tomorrow's picture now, but first!

Here's a comic I made, entirely cobbled together from panels from past comics, with some minor edits.

Such a practice is frowned upon by comic-makers, but DO I LOOK LIKE I CARE? ;)

More fairytales while we wait

I'm going to have a huge post later about going to Minneapolis Wizard World Comic Con, but I have to get all the pictures organized first. I also need to start in on Mothers' Day pictures! But in the meantime, here is the next set of three in my fairytale wallpaper project.

See my deviantArt gallery for the individual pictures.
