Digimon dark fairy tale

And though the princess was the only one in the kingdom who could awaken the Frog King from his enchanted slumber, she would not do so.
"For if I woke the king, I would be a princess no longer."

I WARNED thee about the digimon posts. They don't stop from happening.
You may not THINK that any episode with the word 'Karaoke' in the title could make a brilliant fairy tale, but you'd be wrong.

Prepare for unrelenting digimon posts

Been wanting to do this picture for years, I tell you, YEARS! It's just too amazing that Kari and Koji are the only digidestined to share the same attribute for me to NOT draw something.

It's a wonder I've gotten any drawing done at all, what with all the knitting I've had to be doing. Speaking of...

Sorich was supposed to be one of the things made to sell for Riverboat Days, but he's just too darn cute! I had to keep him, so I knitted up another one real quick. (It's not as cute though.) Kudos to anyone who can guess who he's named after and why. (Hint: it relates to the other part of this post.)

The fun never ends

And here's the last one! I like how this one turned out the most, though she does look rather sneaky... XD

A few knit things

I've been very busy with my knitting! Aitkin Riverboat Days is comin' up, and I've signed up to be a craft vendor! Here's a peek at some of the stuff I'll be selling.

Superman dolls! (with limbs this time!)

 Clown dolls!

Pokemon dolls!

Toy desserts!

And much more! There'll be bears and dolls and bears! So if you're in the area on August 2nd, stop on by!!

Robin comic

If you think Clark Kent's glasses disguise is silly, you need to read some issues of Robin from the 70's. This happens ALL THE TIME.

First I have to scratch my leg

Short post. Here's a picture.

A million years ago I started a series of drawings of each of the digidestined with their crest, but I never finished it. Now since I've just rewatched Adventure, I decided to do the last two I hadn't gotten around to. (No you can't see the first six; this was years ago and I was horrible(er) at drawing.)

And since I'm in a clownish mood...

Babette, named after the titular character of Babette's Feast, I won in a contest years ago at UST's St. Augustine birthday party. (do they still do that?) The contest was to name this dog in this painting. My suggestion was 'Fido.' Yeah, real original of me. ....I really don't know why I won.

So this happened

I guess I shouldn't carry something against my leg when the thing is made of blades.
Still not half as terrifying as using the motor one.

Life's a beast

Goodness gracious my friends, being on your own is tough. It seems like fate has conspired to some kind of boss battle of hard luck as a mean ol' coming of age test.

First it was the truck, needing four trips to the shop in about the space of two weeks.
Then one of the chicks died.
Now the plumbing...

Oh well, I'll chalk it all up to experience, I suppose.

I mentioned the chicks, so I suppose it'd be nice to have a few pictures...

At least they had sent us one extra, so we're really only down to the number we ordered in the first place.

And I mentioned the truck, so...

This is Helios Trucko, whose job it is to live in the truck. If ever one forgets to bring a bear on a trip, one needn't worry, because Helios is always in the car to go with you!
Gosh, I hope he doesn't resent never coming in the house... Surely he wouldn't ever get sore about it and leave us...

Oh NO!!!

Happy Fathers' Day

Batman and sons
I have recently read a great deal of very important issues of Batman (which were hand delivered to me by a Green Lantern. (No seriously)) and I am struck once again by the vast amount of fatherly love Bruce Wayne has for his adopted sons. Anyone who ever tells you that Batman has no emotions is a BALD FACED LIAR.
I have to wonder why more pro-lifers haven't taken note of it this story...
As for the picture, as you can see by their outfits, this is a picture relating to Batman: Decadence, me and Mary's Batman doujinshi.

And as a special treat, here's a picture of Edward and Gilbert together:

Here's a picture of them with their sweaters:

I found Gilbert's sweater in with a bunch of doll clothes. Edward's was being worn by my stuffed alsatian, Archduke. What do you guys think, do they look better with or without 'em?

Sunday, June 8, 2014

Haha. Whoops.

Holy crap, you guys, I'd been operating under the idea that TODAY was Fathers' Day! Apparently it isn't till next week. (Why no one pointed this OUT to me...) Oh well, I guess you'll just have to wait until then to see the big finale picture, won't you, Mappy? Mhahahahaa!

Quick sad penultimate

The third picture:

Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games
I really love the relationship between Katniss and her dad. And how the admiration-without-envy attribute Peeta and his dad have for Katniss' dad contrasts and parallels Peeta and Gale. I thought about doing a picture of younger Katniss, back when her dad was alive, but it this project seemed to demand the inclusion of mourning.

I have no time for to show a bear today, as I must work hard on tomorrow's picture if it's to be done in time.

I'm more persistant than initially thought

And here's the next one let's go!

Fujimoto and daughters from Ponyo
Ya gotta admire Fujimoto; having to care for all them dozens of daughters by himself. Must be hard.

As promised, here's the other half of the bear set.

Edward is Gilbert's father. He is named after Edward Chesterton, father of the more famous Gilbert Chesterton. My Dad suggested I name him that upon hearing Gilbert's name. You would think that'd mean that I named Gilbert after Chesterton, but in actuality he was named after a character in the Doctor Who serial 'The Happiness Patrol.' And to be honest, I don't even remember what that guy looked like! What sticks in one's mind more is the fact that this guy was constantly shouting his name...

Screenshot from Doctor Who

He'd scream 'GIILBEEERRT!!! GIIIILLLBEEEEERRRRT!!!!!!' real loud. And real often.
I think we can all agree that that's more memorable.

Four for Fathers' Day

I've set a plan to do several quick pictures for Fathers' Day, starting with this one:

John and Dad Egbert from Homestuck
I think Dad Egbert really well represents an ideal of the wholesome, 1950's -esque, father figure.

I woulda done the same for Mothers' Day, but I only just thought of it. (next year, one can conclude.)

In conjunction with this, here's the first of an appropriate set of bears.

Gilbert is another bear I've had as long as I can remember. Being a very typical looking bear, he used to get used in demonstrations a lot. He has a little green and yellow sweater somewhere, but I think he looks better without it.

Roaches were never half this fun

This is what the mice are up to currently, if the noises they make at night are any indication.

Speaking of mice...

Here's Pearly Bear (left) Bearly Bear (right) and in the middle Mousey Friend, their child. Pearly Bear and Bearly Bear I've had forever, and I've only the vaguest memory of getting Mousey Friend, in a very brown shop with millions of little cubby holes filled with tiny stuffed animals and finger puppets (which is, in fact, what Mousey Friend is.) I'm not sure this store really existed, but that's how I remember it none the less!

Birthday time!

Happy birthday!! Drawn for my friend for her birthday, featuring her characters, Ciar and Perditus, from her story Athol! It's great!

And in our other corner...

Bushels Babylon. Bought from the thrift store. His first name was given to him by my brother's girlfriend, and I thought it rather ridiculous! So I decided he needed a last name that both alliterated and made him sound fierce. Somethin' that'd make him sound like a bounty hunter!  I thought of using 'Babylon' and went with that, rather than my mother's suggestion that I name him "Bushels Badass."

A promised land in every man's heart

And here I finally am! At last! At last! It was weird though; when we got here the trees all looked like this:

They've greened out by now, but it's weird; in Texas that's what the dead of winter looks like.

But I digress.
Not only have we gotten moved in (do not mistake for meaning we've finished unpacking) but we now have working internet! So it's time to get back to work on this slimy ol' blog!

A lot of my art stuff is still in boxes somewhere, but I did manage to finish this picture, which I'd sketched quit a while ago.

Yes yes, what fun. I'll be trying to draw as much as possible, so keep checking here! Same Bat time! Same Bat channel!

Today, rather than introduce you to a bear, I'd rather you met this lil' fellow.

Plinko the cat was purchased three or four years ago at a garage sale up here, and ever since has sat vigil. Unlike the other stuffed animals, he never returned with me to Texas in the fall, but instead stayed to protect the house (or at least the loft) in our absence. Now that we're here to stay, he could finally lay down his rifle and leave his post for the more restful dwelling of the bed.
Good work, soldier.
