Because we don't have enough of that

I had to work a wedding this past weekend, and it reminded me of something I saw of the Typhoon Facebook page awhile ago...

Disclaimer: that guy playing the groom isn't anyone real.

Moving right along here, here's

Plain Bear. Don't remember exactly where I got him. Pretty sure he was a present. He was missing in action for years until very recently when he turned up in a box hidden behind a bunch of stuff.

Languages = too hard for me

Twice in my life I've made serious attempts to learn another language.

Twice it hasn't really worked.

The first one was Japanese, which I tried to learn with a computer program when I was around 14. But every time the computer I was using died (which happened a LOT) I had to start over, which was so annoying I eventually gave it up.

The second one was Russian, which I took a college course of. Actually, that went quite well, but one year of schooling was nowhere near enough to make me fluent.

I haven't pursued either of these further, and, needless to say, I've forgotten a good chunk of what I'd learned of them, but the weird thing is, my subconscious knows them better than I do! In dreams I remember all kinds of phrases I don't when I'm awake!

For example, the other night I had a dream with Yuzuru Hanyu in it.

^Picture from Wikipedia

For those of you who don't watch the Olympics, he got gold in figure skating, and is just about the hottest thing I've seen all year.

I'm not sure about in real life, but in my dream he couldn't speak any English. Communication was difficult.
But! I do know some useful Japanese phrases. Ya know, like Tadaima, Daruma-san ga koronda, Karuma neko (lol not a real phrase), or Akuma de shitsuji desu kara. Ya know, things you say every day all the time. So there were a few things I could say...

Ehehehe.... But the interesting thing is, I had no memory of that phrase till I said it in the dream. The wonders of the human mind!

Would that I had a Japanese bear to introduce you to! Sadly, I do not. Instead, due to talking about the Olympics, howabout a winter type bear!

This is True Bear. I've had him as long as I can remember (though he did spend a year in my cousin's company once, due to me having accidentally left him there while on vacation,) but I only named him recently, to combat my Dad's erroneous insistence that polar bears are, in fact, false bears. Slander, I say!

Brown picture

Wanted to get this picture finished before Lent ended.

Experimenting with non-black inking. And trying to improve my fancy-type handwriting.

Not unrelated to this picture, we have...

Scooter. Bought from the thrift store and named after the Posse's nickname for Jaime. Lookit that adorable open mouth! He's all like, "Grooodd! GROOOOOOODD!!!"

Shelf time

Here's what's going on on Mary's shelf right now.

Oh it's true!

Here's proof!

BWA-HA-HA-HA!

Ya wanna know what's happening on my shelf??

El Squeako! Him I found discarded on the floor of the vet waiting room. He's got a sqeaker in his tummy. His most notable achievement is accompanying me to the Typhoon concert I attended last autumn, which, without a doubt, was one of the absolute most profound experiences of my entire life.

Lenten comic

I'm making it a tradition to do a comic about Bart Allen for Lent. Wasn't going to post it here, but I'm rather pleased with how it turned out.

Bart Allen, being the best friend anyone could ask for, puts me in the mind of...

Les Amis. (As you can see, printed plainly 'pon his pullover) He was a Christmas present I got several years ago. He embodies the unbreakable bonds of friendship forged in love. I always defer to his judgment in such matters. And I tell people so. And that's why I don't have any friends.

My friend gave me these fine Agunimon and BurningGreymon action figures! Isn't it great?!

If the views on this blog go under 70 miles per hour I'll explode!!
